College Football America Yearbook editor Matthew Postins took some time from working on the 2020 Yearbook to talk with Heartland College Sports Weekly, a sports radio show hosted by HeartlandCollegeSports.com founder Pete Mundo.
Heartland College Sports Weekly is broadcast on radio stations that serve schools in the Big 12 Conference, and HeartlandCollegeSports.com is an independent Big 12 site that covers the entire conference, with an emphasis on football, basketball and baseball.
Postins appeared as the first guest on this week’s show and he and Mundo talked about the state of the Big 12 Conference, as the league announced that it would allow its membership to begin hosting optional workouts on campus starting June 15. The two talked about the impact of the decision on the league, its players, its fans and why now might be the right time for these workouts to begin, even as the coronavirus pandemic continues. Plus, there are financial considerations, as Kansas announced furloughs for its athletic staff.
Then the pair talk a little Big 12 basketball before finishing the segment with a discussion about the 2020 edition of the Yearbook, which is being worked on right now. Postins gave Mundo a sneak peek of what the staff is working on, including the player likely to grace the cover.
The College Football America 2020 Yearbook will feature more than 900 college football teams from the United States and Canada in more than 250 striking, full-color pages. It will includes every team from the NCAA (FBS, FCS, Division II and Division III), NAIA, NJCAA, CCCAA and U Sports (Canada). It will also includes updates on club football, one-year postgraduate prep/sports academies and Mexican college football, along with dozens of action shots and stadium photos taken by the CFAY staff. The staff anticipates a late June or early July release to e-commerce sites like Amazon and Barnes And Noble.
The staff is working overtime to make sure the book is as up-to-date as possible, especially given this year’s circumstances.
