Today we celebrate this day in College Football America Yearbook history by looking back on the games we’ve covered on this date, Dec. 28. The staff at the College Football America Yearbook has been attending and coverings games since 2010, even before we actually had a physical yearbook to sell. Our staff travels the country to cover anywhere from 50 to 70 college football games per season. So, we’ve accumulated many games, many photos and many memories. Each day, we’ll encapsulate those memories here and include links to our photos and game coverage that will help you take a look back, too.
So what did we do on this day in College Football America Yearbook history?
2012: Cincinnati (FBS) vs. Duke (FBS)
Our College Football America Yearbook director of editorial content Chuck Cox flew out to Charlotte, North Carolina, to check out what was called the Belk Bowl at the home of the Carolina Panthers. The Cincinnati Bearcats and the Duke Blue Devils squared off in the game, with the Bearcats winning the game, 48-34.
2015: Navy (FBS) vs. Pittsburgh (FBS)
Our College Football America Yearbook publisher Kendall Webb wanted to hit the home of Navy football, and what better way to do it than during the Military Bowl, held at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland. Navy hosts the bowl game, so it makes sense that, on occasion, the Midshipmen play in the game, too. In this day, the Midshipmen faced the Pitt Panthers, with the Midshipmen winning the game, 44-28.
2019: Memphis (FBS) vs. Penn State (FBS)
Our College Football America Yearbook director of editorial content Chuck Cox made his way to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, for the Cotton Bowl Classic, one of the New Year’s Six games held each year during Bowl Season. The Memphis Tigers faced the Penn State Nittany Lions on this day, with Penn State winning a high-scoring affair, 53-39.
