West Florida, which was the 2019 national champion, is No. 1 in the 2021 College Football America Yearbook Division II preseason Top 30.
The Argonauts didn’t play in 2020 due to COVID-19. But, in 2019, UWF defeated Minnesota State, 48-40, to win its first national championship.
The Mavericks, who lost that game and, like UWF, didn’t play in 2020, is No. 2.
Slippery Rock, Ferris State and Notre Dame (OH) round out the Top 5. Ferris State and Slippery Rock each reached the national semifinals in 2019.
Rounding out the Top 10 are No. 6 Northwest Missouri State, No. 7 Lenoir-Rhyne, No. 8 Texas A&M-Commerce, No. 9 Valdosta State and No. 10 Kutztown.
