The Southeastern Louisiana Lions are No. 1o in the 2021 College Football America Yearbook’s FCS Preseason Top 30.
The Lions played in the spring of 2021 and went 4-3, with a 4-2 in the Southland Conference. The Lions could be the favorite in the new-look SLC in the fall, as the league returns just six teams. Five programs left the conference after the spring football season, four of which went to the Western Athletic Conference and one of which went to the Atlantic Sun Conference.
The Lions will be led by quarterback Cole Kelley, who the FCS Walter Payton Award as the nation’s top offensive player and earned All-America honors from multiple outlets. The Southland Conference Player of the Year threw for 2,662 yards, 18 touchdowns and four interceptions. He also rushed for team-high seven touchdowns.
The Lions open the season on Sept. 4 at home against North Alabama.
