Lenoir-Rhyne Bears Lions Featured in 2021 College Football America Yearbook

Lenoir-Rhyne Bears kicker Chase Allbaugh is part of the 2021 College Football America Yearbook’s Division II Preseason Starting Lineup, the book’s version of a preseason All-America team.

Just as importantly, the Bears are No. 7 in the 2021 College Football America Yearbook’s Division II Preseason Top 30.

Lenoir-Rhyne played in the spring, as the South Atlantic Conference adopted a two-division format to help accommodate travel for COVID-19. The Bears won the Mountain Division with a 3-0 record and ended up 3-1 overall. The Bears lost to Tusculum, 28-23, in the SAC title game.

In 2019, the Bears went 13-1 overall and 9-0 in SAC action, reaching the Division II regional finals. The Bears beat Miles and Carson-Newman before losing to eventual national champion West Florida.

Allbaugh is one of the best kickers in Division II. His 76 consecutive extra points made in a season is an NCAA record. He is also Lenoir-Rhyne’s all-time scoring leader among kickers and is the SAC’s single-season record holder for points by a kicker.

The Bears open the season at Virginia State on Sept. 4. After a week off, the Bears start SAC action at Newberry.

The Division II section of the College Football America 2021 Yearbook features 25 pages of content including:

  • National Division II preview;
  • Division II preseason Starting Lineup;
  • Update on each Division II conference;
  • Capsules for every Division II team, including 2020 results and 2021 schedules;
