Southern Illinois Salukis Prominently in 2021 College Football America Yearbook

Southern Illinois Salukis wide receiver Avante Cox is on the 2021 College Football America Yearbook’s FCS Preseason Starting Lineup, the book’s version of a preseason All-America team.

Additionally, the Salukis are No. 5 in the 2021 College Football America Yearbook’s FCS Preseason Top 30.

The Salukis played in the spring of 2021 and went 6-4, with a 3-3 record in the Missouri Valley Football Conference. The Salukis qualified for the FCS playoffs, beating Weber State in the first round, 34-31, before losing to South Dakota State, 31-26.

The Salukis will be led by Cox, a consensus First-Team All-American and First-Team All-MVFC performer who caught 66 passes for 838 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Also on the Starting Lineup is defensive back James Ceasar. He was a First-Team All-American as selected by the American Football Coaches Association, a First-Team All-MVFC selection and led the nation in pass breakups with 14.

The Salukis open the season on Sept. 2 at Southeast Missouri. The Salukis then travel to Kansas State on Sept. 11, followed by a home game against Dayton on Sept. 18. The Salukis start MVFC play on Sept. 25 against Illinois State.

The FCS section of the College Football America 2021 Yearbook features 28 pages of content including:
