Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders Featured in 2021 College Football America Yearbook

Two Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders football players, including defensive back Jefferson Fritz, are part of the 2021 College Football America Yearbook’s Division III Preseason Starting Lineup, the book’s version of a preseason All-America team.

Just as importantly, the Crusaders are No. 2 in the 2021 College Football America Yearbook’s Division III Preseason Top 30.

The Crusaders won the American Southwest Conference title in a split division format to accommodate travel for COVID-19. The Crusaders went 4-0 in division play and then defeated Hardin-Simmons in the ASC title game to win the crown.

Fritz, a senior, is already the ASC and UMHB record-holder for career interceptions. In 2019, Fritz was a First-Team All-American and an All-South Region First-Team selection. He also earned All-ASC First-Team honors at both safety and punter.

His teammate, Anthony Avila, is also on the Starting Lineup as a kicker. In 2019 he was a First-Team All-American and the ASC Special Teams Player of the Year.

The Crusaders open the season on Sept. 4 at home against Simpson.

The Division III section of the College Football America 2021 Yearbook features 36 pages of content including:

  • National Division III preview;
  • Division III preseason Starting Lineup;
  • Update on each Division III conference;
  • Capsules for every Division III team, including 2020 results and 2021 schedules;
  • Fourteen color action, coach and stadium photos.

The College Football America 2021 Yearbook features more than 900 college football teams from the United States and Canada in more than 250 striking, full-color pages. That includes every team from the NCAA (FBS, FCS, Division II and Division III), NAIA, NJCAA, CCCAA and U Sports (Canada). It also includes updates on club football, one-year postgraduate prep/sports academies and Mexican college football, along with dozens of action shots and stadium photos taken by the CFA staff.
