Northwestern (IA) Red Raiders Featured in the 2021 College Football America Yearbook

Northwestern Red Raiders

Three Northwestern (IA) players, including quarterback Tyson Kooima, are part of the 2021 College Football America Yearbook’s NAIA Preseason Starting Lineup, the book’s version of a preseason All-America team.

Just as importantly, the Red Raiders are No. 1 in the 2021 College Football America Yearbook’s NAIA Preseason Top 30. The Vikings are the highest-ranked Great Plains Athletic Conference program in the CFA preseason Top 30.

Kooima, a senior, was the NAIA Player of the Year in 2020 and a First-Team NAIA All-American. His teammates, defensive back Noah Van’t Hof and all-purpose player Michael Storey, are also in the Starting Lineup. Van’t Hof was a Second-Team All-American.

The Red Raiders went 11-2 overall last year and 8-1 in GPAC action. The Red Raiders made the NAIA playoffs, defeating Dickinson State, 31-7, in the first round; Grand View, 27-24, in the quarterfinals; and defending champion Morningside, 44-41, in the semifinals. The next week, the Red Raiders fell to Lindsey Wilson, 45-13, in the national championship game.

The Red Raiders open the season on the road at Presentation on Aug. 28. They open the home portion of their schedule on Sept. 4 against Hastings.

The NAIA section of the College Football America 2021 Yearbook features 16 pages of content including:
