West Florida Argos Featured Prominently in 2021 College Football America Yearbook

West Florida Argonauts

West Florida Argonauts running back Shomari Mason is on the 2021 College Football America Yearbook’s Division II Preseason Starting Lineup, the book’s version of a preseason All-America team.

Just as importantly, the Argos are No. 1 in the 2021 College Football America Yearbook’s Division II Preseason Top 30.

The Argos did not play in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2019, the Argos won their first national championship in football, defeating the Minnesota State Mavericks in McKinney, Texas, to claim a national title in the program’s fourth year of existence. It was also UWF’s second appearance in the national title game, having lost to Texas A&M-Commerce in the 2017 title game.

Mason was a big part of getting the Argos to the postseason, even though a knee injury ended his season in November of 2019. Mason was named First Team All-Gulf South Conference after he rushed for 416 yards and five touchdowns in 2019. That made him the third freshman running back to earn first team honors in the last decade.

The Argos open the season on Sept. 4 at McNeese State.

The Division II section of the College Football America 2021 Yearbook features 25 pages of content including:

  • National Division II preview;
  • Division II preseason Starting Lineup;
  • Update on each Division II conference;
  • Capsules for every Division II team, including 2020 results and 2021 schedules;
  • Eleven color action, coach and stadium photos.

The College Football America 2021 Yearbook features more than 900 college football teams from the United States and Canada in more than 250 striking, full-color pages. That includes every team from the NCAA (FBS, FCS, Division II and Division III), NAIA, NJCAA, CCCAA and U Sports (Canada). It also includes updates on club football, one-year postgraduate prep/sports academies and Mexican college football, along with dozens of action shots and stadium photos taken by the CFA staff.

The print edition is available online via Amazon.com and other major retailers such as Barnes & Noble.
