The UC Davis Aggies beat a Top 15 team last week and moved into the No. 8 spot in the AFCA FCS Coaches’ Top 25 Poll after Week 4.
UC Davis, which upset Tulsa in its season opener, moved to 4-0 on the season after defeating Big Sky rival and former No. 15 Weber State, 17-14. The Aggies face Idaho on Saturday.
Sam Houston remained No. 1, receiving 26 first-place votes, and the Bearkats face Stephen F. Austin on Saturday. James Madison remained No. 2 and received one first-place vote, while South Dakota State received one first-place vote and remained No. 3. Montana remained No. 4 and North Dakota State remained No. 5.
No. 6 Eastern Washington, No. 7 Southern Illinois, No. 8 UC Davis, No. 9 Villanova and No. 10 Delaware rounded out the Top 10.
The rest of the Top 25 included No. 11 North Dakota, No. 12 Montana State, No. 13 Northern Iowa, No. 14 East Tennessee, No. 15 Southeastern Louisiana, No. 16 Missouri State, No. 17 Jacksonville State, No. 18 Weber State, No. 19 Chattanooga, No. 20 Kennesaw State, No. 21 Richmond, No. 22 VMI, No. 23 Rhode Island, and (tie) No. 24 Holy Cross and No. 24 UT Martin.
Monmouth, Austin Peay, New Hampshire and Central Arkansas dropped out of the Top 25.
