AFCA FCS Top 25: North Dakota State Slides Up to No. 2

The North Dakota State Bison slid up a spot to No. 2 in the  AFCA FCS Coaches’ Top 25 Poll was released after the games on Oct. 23.

The Bison, who are trying to get back to the national championship game for the first time since the end of the 2019 season, are 7-0 this season and are coming off a 27-20 win over Missouri State, which was also ranked. The No. 2 spot opened up when Eastern Washington fell to Weber State.

Sam Houston State remained No. 1 in the poll, receiving all of the 27 first-place votes.  

After Sam Houston and North Dakota State, the rest of the top 10 included No. 3 Southern Illinois, No. 4 Villanova, No. 5 James Madison, No. 6 Montana State, No. 7 Eastern Washington, No. 8 Southeastern Louisiana, No. 9 UC Davis and No. 10 Kennesaw State.

The rest of the Top 25 included No. 11 Montana, No. 12 UT Martin, No. 13 South Dakota State, No. 14 East Tennessee, No. 15 Princeton, No. 16 Jackson State, No. 17 Northern Iowa, No. 18 VMI, No. 19 Eastern Kentucky, No. 20 Missouri State, No. 21 Harvard, No. 22 South Dakota, No. 23 (tie) Sacramento State, No. 23 (tie) Weber State and No. 25 Rhode Island.

Jacksonville State and Delaware dropped out of the Top 25.

Others Receiving Votes included Chattanooga, 53; William & Mary, 27; Holy Cross, 21; Stephen F. Austin, 21; Monmouth (N.J.), 20; Prairie View A&M, 19; North Dakota, 18; Mercer, 16; Delaware, 15; Florida A&M, 14; Columbia, 10; Dartmouth, 9; Jacksonville St., 8; Yale, 8; UIW, 7; Nicholls, 3; Elon, 2; Furman, 2; Davidson, 1.
