AFCA Division II Top 25: California Vulcans Rise to No. 3

The California (PA) Vulcans took another step toward the top of the Division II ranks, rising to No. 3 in the  American Football Coaches Association Division II Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, released on Nov. 1.

The Vulcans defeated Seton Hill, 42-14, and are now 8-0 on the season. California (PA) has clinched at least a share of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division title with only one week of league play remaining.

Ferris State remained at No. 1, and the rest of the Top 10 included No. 2 Valdosta State, No. 3 California (PA), No. 4 West Florida, No. 5 Ouachita Baptist, No. 6 Northwest Missouri State, No. 7 Grand Valley State, No. 8 Notre Dame (OH), No. 9 Bentley and No. 10 Harding.

After the Top 10, AFCA had No. 11 Shepherd, No. 12 West Georgia, No. 13 Colorado Mines, No. 14 Bowie State, No. 15 Slippery Rock, No. 16 Henderson State, No. 17 Augustana (SD), No. 18 Western Colorado, No. 19 Kutztown, No. 20 Frostburn State, No. 21 Midwestern State, No. 22 Albany State, No. 23 West Alabama, No. 24 New Haven and No. 25 Nebraska-Kearney.

Wingate and Colorado Mesa fell out of the Top 25.

Others Receiving Votes included Wingate (N.C.), 39; Washburn (Kan.), 30; Minnesota-Duluth, 18; Colorado Mesa, 16; Pittsburg St. (Kan.), 13; Charleston (W.Va.), 8; Lenoir-Rhyne (N.C.), 8; Angelo St. (Texas), 7; Bemidji St. (Minn.), 7; Lindenwood (Mo.), 7; Indiana (Pa.), 4; Colorado St.-Pueblo, 3; Fayetteville St. (N.C.), 2; Tiffin (Ohio), 2; Northern St. (S.D.), 1; Southeastern Oklahoma, 1.
