AFCA FCS Top 25: Montana State Moves Up to No. 3

The Montana State Bobcats defeated Eastern Washington, 23-20, to take control of the Big Sky race and moved up to No. 3 in the  AFCA FCS Coaches’ Top 25 Poll was released after the games on Nov. 7.

The Bobcats, now 8-1, are preparing to take on Idaho this weekend. With the win, the Bobcats moved up one spot from No. 4 to No. 3 and sent EWU down to No. 8 from No. 5.

Sam Houston State remained No. 1 in the poll, receiving all of the 28 first-place votes. The Bearkats are now the only undefeated team in the Top 25.

After Sam Houston, the rest of the Top 10 included No. 2 James Madison, No. 3 Montana State, No. 4 UC Davis, No. 5 Kennesaw State, No. 6 North Dakota State, No. 7 South Dakota State, No. 8 Eastern Washington, No. 9 Montana and No. 10 UT Martin. South Dakota State defeated North Dakota State last weekend.

The rest of the Top 25 included No. 11 Villanova, No. 12 East Tennessee, No. 13 Southeastern Louisiana, No. 14 Missouri State, No. 15 Jackson State, No. 16 Southern Illinois, No. 17 South Dakota, No. 18 Sacramento State, No. 19 Chattanooga, No. 20 VMI, No. 21 Incarnate Word, No. 22 Princeton, No. 23 Dartmouth, No. 24 Northern Iowa and No. 25 Eastern Kentucky.

William & Mary and Weber State dropped out of the Top 25.

Others Receiving Votes included Stephen F. Austin, 38; Monmouth (N.J.), 36; Delaware, 35; William & Mary, 34; Mercer, 32; Prairie View A&M, 32; Florida A&M, 29; Holy Cross, 22; Harvard, 15; Davidson, 8; Nicholls, 8; Central Arkansas, 7; Rhode Island, 5; Yale, 3.
