AFCA FCS Top 25: Sam Houston, JMU, Montana State Top 3

The Sam Houston Bearkats, the James Madison Dukes and the Montana State Bobcats remained in the Top 3 spots of the  AFCA FCS Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, released after the games on Nov. 13.

Sam Houston has been the No. 1 in the country the entire season. The defending national champions are 9-0 entering this weekend’s action.

James Madison, 9-1, and Montana State, 9-1, also won last week. JMU faces Towson on Saturday, while MSU faces rival and No. 7 Montana on Saturday.

Montana State ended up getting one first-place vote, while Sam Houston got the other 27.

After the Top 3, the rest of the Top 10 included No. 4 North Dakota State, No. 5 Kennesaw State, No. 6 Eastern Washington, No. 7 Montana, No. 8 UT Martin, No. 9 Villanova and No. 10 East Tennessee.

The rest of the Top 25 included No. 11 UC Davis, No. 12 Southeastern Louisiana, No. 13 South Dakota State, No. 14 Missouri State, No. 15 Southern Illinois, No. 16 South Dakota, No. 17 Jackson State, No. 18 Sacramento State, No. 19 Incarnate Word, No. 20 Princeton, No. 21 Dartmouth, No. 22 Stephen F. Austin, No. 23 Mercer, No. 24 Monmouth (NJ) and No. 25 Florida A&M.

Chattanooga, VMI, Northern Iowa, Eastern Kentucky dropped out of the Top 25.

Others Receiving Votes included Holy Cross, 35; Rhode Island, 33; Chattanooga, 18; Eastern Kentucky, 17; Northern Iowa, 5; VMI, 4; Weber St., 4; Central Arkansas, 3; William & Mary, 3; Jacksonville St., 2; Maine, 2; Harvard, 1; Sacred Heart, 1.
