Indiana Wesleyan defensive back Justin Johnson is part of the 2022 College Football America Yearbook’s NAIA Preseason Starting Lineup, the book’s version of a preseason All-America team.
Also, the Wildcats are No. 9 in the 2022 College Football America Yearbook’s NAIA Preseason Top 30. The Wildcats are one of the highest-ranked Mid-States Football Association programs in the CFA preseason Top 30.
Johnson became the third player in program history to earn All-America honors, as he was named a First-Team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association after last season. He finished with 52 tackles, three sacks, forced three fumbles, and two interceptions.
The Wildcats went 7-3 overall and 4-3 in league play, reaching the NAIA playoffs. Unfortunately, the run ended there, as the Wildcats were forced to cancel their playoff game due to a COVID-19 outbreak, with their opponent, Kansas Wesleyan, advancing.
The Wildcats open the 2022 football season at Valparaiso on Sept. 3, followed by a Sept. 17 road trip to Olivet Nazarene. The Wildcats open league action on Sept. 24 at home against Trinity International.
