College Football America 2022 Mountain West Preseason Rankings

Air Force Falcons

Boise State, San Diego State and Fresno State are the front-runners in the 2022 College Football America Yearbook Preseason Mountain West Conference Rankings.

The Mountain West rankings are based off the College Football America Yearbook’s overall Top 131 rankings, which ranks every team in FBS entering the season.

Boise State is the favorite, even though the Broncos failed to make the Mountain West title game a season ago. They are loaded with returning starters after finishing 12th in FBS in scoring defense (19 ppg).

San Diego State went 12-2 overall last season and returns receiver Jesse Matthews who caught 57 passes for 642 yards and nine touchdowns in 2021.

Fresno State has the one-two punch of quarterback Jake Haener and wide receiver Jalen Cropper. Haener threw for 4,096 yards with 33 touchdowns and nine interceptions last year, while Cropper hauled in 85 passes for 899 yards and 11 touchdowns, so the offense is in good hands.

The 2022 College Football America Yearbook features eight pages of Mountain West content, including an overall preview of the conference race, a spotlight piece on a stadium, the Mountain West Starting Lineup, all team schedules and a half-page devoted to each program.

The 2022 College Football America Yearbook features more than 900 college football teams from the United States and Canada in more than 250 striking, full-color pages. That includes every team from the NCAA (FBS, FCS, Division II and Division III), NAIA, NJCAA, CCCAA and U Sports (Canada). It also includes dozens of action shots and stadium photos taken by the CFA staff.

The print edition is available online via and other major retailers such as Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million.
